Emilio Fraia was born in S?o Paulo, Brazil, in 1982. Writer and editor, his most recent book Sevastopol was published in the US, UK, Sweden, and Norway. Sevastopol was one of the winners of the Biblioteca Nacional Prize; a semifinalist of the Oceanos Prize and a finalist of the Jabuti Prize. In 2012, Fraia was named one of Granta’s Best Young Brazilian Writers. His texts have appeared in The New Yorker,The Paris Review,Vogue, and other publications. He has been awarded a Civitella Ranieri Writing Fellowship, a residency program for international writers at the Civitella Ranieri Center in Italy. Fraia is also the author of The Summer of Chibo (novel) and Blank Field (graphic novel). He is currently an editor of literary fiction at Companhia das Letras, a publishing house in S?o Paulo, where he lives.
